Here’s Morella modeling one of her summer looks on the changing table runway.
I have been spending the majority of my time on work (things have been busy and crazy there) and on researching and calling and touring daycare options. This daycare struggle has frustrated me to the absolute max over the past several weeks. And it’s especially maddening since we’ve been on several wait lists since December 2012 — but apparently we decided to have a kid in the middle of a horrible daycare drought. Anyway after lots of worrying and lots of desperation somebody came through with a recommendation of an obscure daycare and THEY HAD SPACE for an infant! So we don’t have to put her on the front porch with a sign that says “free to a good home” after all.
Besides those two main things we’ve just been surviving, and enjoying. The baby is great — getting huger all the time! And she is a great sleeper. Slept the whole night for the past three nights. Of course I wake up panicked like “Is she okay?” But I guess it’s just really tiring to grow at such a ridiculous rate.
Even with being back at work I still go on a lot of after-work walks with the little girl, and people yell all kinds of hilarious things at us from their porches. People of every age and race LOVE the pram, and don’t mind saying so.
We did get a new car, finally — a Toyota Venza, which is a glorified station wagon. A total mom-mobile. We love it. It’s the height of luxury because unlike the TesSUV, it has cup holders! Dan harangued every dealer in the state to get the price down where he wanted it, which was nerve-wracking for non-confrontational me, and exhilarating for extroverted him.
One Sunday the family had a nice champagne brunch at the Jefferson, for which Morella got all dolled up in a vintage peach dress and then promptly slept the entire time.
She is becoming so expressive and alert, and one goal I have for upcoming weeks is to take some videos of her and make a montage of cuteness.
Here’s baby’s first selfie, mostly hogged by me.
Oh and hey look, I just got this notification when I logged into WordPress. 7 years of Parasol Party! 🙂
The other day a friend posted something on Tumblr about how pumpkin-flavored EVERYTHING is coming sooooooon! That got me so excited for fall and for taking Morella on her first visit to the pumpkin patch, and dressing her up for Halloween, and getting ready for the family traditions and holidays that follow. We have so much to do.
That’s it for now. I know I don’t have much to say but really, how many ways can I think of to describe snuggling this baby?
