horseshoes and hand grenades
May 30, 2007

The weekend was crazy and I’ve spent the last couple of days recuperating and getting a ton of stuff done around the house. I cannot fathom anything other than making lists right now.
Fun things I did over the weekend
- Sharon’s bachelorette dinner at Bank (try the crab cakes)
- Followed by alternating glimpses of fun / horror at Mars
- The beach with Matt, although it was too cold to swim and I got some sun
- My long-awaited, very brief return to Macarthur Center to get these
- Partying at Cogan’s (formerly a pretty lame rock venue, now a pizza joint?) for Jameson’s birthday
- Sharon and Keith’s wedding festivities
- Followed by drinks at Empire with a few of my favorite people
- Footloose. As David says “You don’t really need to see it, because you lived it.” But I saw it anyway and I’m really, really glad.
- Horseshoes with Matt, Dad, and PawPaw, which saw rapid improvement in my “pitchin’”
- Kindergarten Cop. Enough said.
Productive things I’ve done over the past couple of days
- Sewing
- Scanned in more pictures
- Called Comcast about our internet constantly going up and down
- Fixed the running toilet (thanks, wikiHow)
- Found my debit card (thanks, Empire)
By the way if you haven’t tried taco night at Empire (3 for $1 on Tuesdays, and yeah, they have beans instead of beef), do it. It’s a vast improvement over fighting the frat boys at Tiki Bob’s for worse tacos.
Maddie and I are busy getting things together for Kim’s bridal shower on Sunday. Tonight is softball. This is what else is up this weekend.
Here are a few links for those of you who are link-hungry:
- A perfect hat, but an expensive one.
- Bizarre that I happened to hear about Dust Comics just before reading the preface to Jane Eyre, which is amazing. And she even dedicates it to Thackeray! A girl after my own heart.
- Bedtime stories = neat.
- I still want to go there.
- Because it doesn’t get old.
- Bonnie and Clyde! An amazing story from StoryCorps.
